Covid-19 is Spread by People, particularly Young People, who are Asymptomatic
The more exposed you are to people who spend time with others (particularly young people) the more likely you will be exposed to an asymptomatic case. This is why if group dog training is not cancelled it should be cancelled. Large volume boarding and training facilities employ young people and they deal with the general public. People bring their dogs there, talk about services, drop dogs off, pick dogs up and are trained in classrooms at the facility. This is way less safe than staying home.
The young people who work and get paid minimum wage at large dog boarding facilities are unconcerned about the virus after they leave work. I interviewed young people at the local college when this pandemic started... They said, "This doesn't affect me. I'm not old." Some of them even attend "virus parties."

- Our facilities are outside the Metro Area (on a 10 acre farm) and they are completely closed to the public. They always have been. Only 4 people live on the property. Two of us are trainers and we live in separate buildings where we stay with the dog we are training nearly 24/7. We do not leave the facility except as required by picking up and returning our client's dog.
- We have always been prepared for any disaster with 6 months of food, a separate water source, solar panels for emergency electricity, medical equipment and medicines inspired by special forces trained medics.
- As a former Combat Engineer who served overseas and an Eagle Scout Tony Okrongly has always seen preparedness as a basic requirement of being a responsible father and business owner. His decades long awareness and preparedness has made him a go-to resource for advice like the article above.
- During the pandemic we are taking EXTREME levels of precautions:
- We will not enter your house when picking up your dog. We will have all our discussions and transfers outside. Since micro particulates can stay suspended in the air for hours the open air is 99% safer than inside. We doubt that you have Covid-19 and we monitor ourselves daily to ensure that we don't. But we still take this precaution to protect you and your family.
- We will use our own leashes and equipment to take your dog and we will disinfect anything the dog needs to bring both on pickup and before bringing the dog home.
- We monitor our temperature daily. The first symptom of Covid exposure is elevated temperature, even if there are no other symptoms.
- We are outside the Metro area so any "lockdown" and "travel bans" do not apply to our facility.
- We understand that in this time of extremes that it is possible that you may not be able to take your dog back when you say (in case of travel restrictions or heaven forbid quarantine issues). Any dog we board and train has a FREE 2 week extension in case of emergency.
- As already stated we have our own food supplies and water supplies so we don't have to expose ourselves to the public at all... and we DON'T... other than to pick up or deliver your dog. I only train one dog at a time. That means my maximum outside exposure per month is TWICE.
- We follow extreme hand sanitation after every "Touch" when travelling and we never enter any facility except in an emergency (such as to use the restroom while on the road). If we touch a gas pump we sanitize our hands. If we touch a keypad we sanitize our hands. Anytime we touch anything outside our car we sanitize our hands before re-entering the car. If we pass our debit card to someone through the window in the rare instance when we need to get something to drink or eat we sanitize the card and our hands when it comes back.
- These may seem like extreme precautions, but when everyone was hoarding hand sanitizer we already had 2 gallons in our storage room. When people were searching for N-95 masks, we already had 10 in our storage room. When people were pulling everything they could find off the store shelves we sat at our facility and watched it on TV. Before the virus occurred we had 650 lbs of dry food stored and 400 lbs of frozen food stored, plus all types of medications, medical supplies and ... most importantly knowledge.
- This may sound crazy... and it certainly would have on January 1st 2020... but it's not so crazy now.
