Large and/or Aggressive Breed or Behavior Policy

Yes, we train pit bulls regularly.  But our training is limited to individual dogs who need training for hyperactive based behavior in adult dogs and/or puppy training.

Company Policy Prohibits trainers from working with the following breeds:

Rottweilers
Chows (or mixes that display "chow type behavior")
Mastiffs (Except for Great Dane Puppy Training)

Company Policy Prohibits trainers from working with the following Breed/Behavior combinations:

ANY dog over 25 lbs that is aggressive toward humans.
ANY dog over 25 lbs that is aggressive toward other dogs in the home.
ANY family with multiple pit bulls where "pack" behaviors are present.
ANY dog that we feel would be a danger to children.

Our training is ineffective in these instances.

Policy regarding "MOCK" aggression or "Leash Reactive" dogsOur trainers DO work with dogs over 25 lbs that show leash reactions toward other dogs IF THEY FEEL THAT THE ACTIONS ARE "ADRENALINE" based but are not "DOMINANCE" based.

Our training methods have shown a high rate of success regarding "mock" aggression on the leash, but are much less effecting regarding actually dominant aggression on the leash.  The trainer will make the determination.

Policy regarding SMALL DOG aggression

Our training has proven very effective in instances of Small Dog aggression and mock aggression.  This is generally limited to dogs under 25 lbs.  Our training is particularly effective with small dog breeds under 15 lbs.  Aggression and mock aggression in these breeds is fairly common and fairly straightforward to address and correct with out training methods. The trainer will end the training session and leave if they feel there is any danger whatsoever to them or if they feel like the training would be ineffective or if they feel like the training would put the owner in danger after training.

CALM DOG TRAINING HAS ONE OVERRIDING POLICY REGARDING DOGS AND CHILDREN: The Worst Child is Infinitely More Important than the Best Dog.

If at ANY TIME your dog NO MATTER HOW OLD, HOW LONG YOU HAVE HAD IT, OR HOW GREAT IT IS does anything that makes you concerned for you child's safety (or children visiting your home) then you should surrender the dog to animal control or a qualified and responsible facility.  This is particularly true of any dog over 25 lbs.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING PIT BULLS AND MASTIFFS:

If you own a Pit Bull or a Mastiff please review the dog biting, attacking and fatality information at:

The following are very important statistics - particularly with dogs and children.
- Pit Bulls with NO HISTORY OF AGGRESSION have attacked and killed family members - particularly children and infants repeatedly and consistently over all the years that statistics have been kept.  You can read Every Dog Attack Fatality in detail at the website above.
- The #1 dog that both seriously attacks and/or kills humans is Pit Bull.
- The #2 dog that both seriously attack and/or kills humans is Mastiff.
- While many other dogs might bite a person for various reasons, these two breeds account for well over 70% of all fatalities.
- OVER 50% OF PIT BULL ATTACKS OCCUR ON FAMILY MEMBERS or close family friends.
- Pit Bulls with no history of attack or abuse have and do KILL THEIR OWNERS and KILL CHILDREN for no apparent reason.
- OBVIOUSLY DANGEROUS PIT BULLS IN NEIGHBORHOODS have and do escape their enclosures and attack adults and children, sometimes fatally... always seriously and traumatically.

As a dog trainer with over 10 years experience I once thought that fully adult dogs over 3 years of age with no history of aggression were safe.  These police reports and summaries prove otherwise.
